Embrace the dark side this autumn

Accentuate colour against a dark background

If you’re thinking of having an interior re-design this autumn, we can talk you through the styles that are going to be making the biggest waves in the next season. The basic rule of thumb is to pair one bold splash of colour with darker tones over the rest of the room. The tricky part is finding a pop of colour that clashes against the dark tones in a complimentary way.

Of course, you don’t want a room that’s entirely dark – it makes a space look cramped and dingy. So keeping walls a light neutral tone is a good idea, then cabinets, tables and accessories can be darker. Deep blues, greens, greys and purples will work well.

Texture is also an important part of the equation. Pairing stark opposites is also trending here, such as raw materials like wood with sleek luxurious fabrics like velvet. The Arteriors Tullane chandelier is a great example of the rustic chic look raw materials can create.

If a blue or green theme was something you were considering, the Patrick two seat sofa bed from has a great mustard colour in matt velvet that will contrast perfectly. Whilst there are a good selection of dark blue velvet chairs on too that will tie it all in together.

So there you have it! A sneaky look into the future to find what will be trending in the upcoming season.
