Spend the weekend in a luxury 12th century abbey

Air bnb has done it again

If you’ve been too busy to take advantage of the beautiful weather we’ve been having recently and are thinking about taking a weekend away to remedy that, you need look no further. Butley Priory, a former Augustinian monastery on the Suffolk coast, has been lovingly converted into a comfortable family home.

If you book this place you can expect to have dinner in a spacious vaulted hall, with the original stone ceiling stretching high above you and coat of arms above the fireplace. Bohemian modern interior décor is set against a backdrop of neutral wall and floors that make the most of the beautiful architecture throughout the building.

If you just want somewhere to unwind, you can curl up and read in a selection of snuggly padded window seats that have been made underneath the soaring windows; or make a feast fit for an abbot in the huge turquoise AGA.

With eight double bedrooms, you could get sixteen of your favourite people together for a weekend here happily. There’s more than enough space outside too, with eight acres of the famously beautiful Suffolk countryside surrounding the building.
