Two-thirds of the 1,042 UK adults quizzed revealed they knew who Marie Kondo was, with 58% having watched the Netflix show. A further third consider Marie Kondo to have directly influenced them to spend more time cleaning, with 44% revealing they know what her famous KonMari tidying method is.
People in the Generation Z demographic (those aged 18-24) are most likely to spend the longest cleaning, spending an average of eight hours a week.
Speaking about the results of the study, Mark Kelly marketing manager at Appliances Direct, says: "It’s fascinating to see the impact and influence Marie Kondo is having on British adults with her tidying hacks and tips. This is perhaps unsurprising given that she has propelled to stardom over recent months thanks to her book, but most notably her recent Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo".
