Whatever the size and shape of your kitchen, good lighting is key to its success, both practically and visually. As you would need to clearly see your prepping and cooking stations, highlighting work surfaces, the sink, cooker and hob is especially important. Trend-wise, the industrial look is still all the rage in 2017, with everything from bright coppery tones to dark antique bronze. Here’s a list of our favourites.
The Tower 6 Light Cluster pendant from Där Lighting over a dining table or island unit makes for an eye-catching feature that will offer instant impact. With a height that’s adjustable to a maximum of 1.3 metres, it will frame vintage-style bulbs and hang beautifully. Priced at £119 Tower 6 Light Cluster pendant, Credit: Där Lighting
A new interpretation of the billiard table lamp, TAF Architects give us the Ambit Rail for Muuto. Made up of three aluminium pendants in one row, it’s ideal for shedding light onto a long, linear island, dining table or even a breakfast bar. Priced at £469 Ambit Rail, Credit: Muuto
The Lawrence pendant from Pooky combines two trends – a stone outer and copper interior, seamlessly bringing together metallics and natural elements. Priced at £145 Lawrence pendant, Credit: Pooky
Available in transparent, light green, grey, brown and light blue, the Ribe pendant lamp from Urbanara is crafted from coral mouth-blown glass with a contrasting coloured cord. Priced at £125 Ribe pendant lamp, Credit: Urbanara

Mouth-blown glass shades are a popular choice this year, and why not? They are simple yet stylish. Available in grey or transparent, the Unika by Northern Lighting is a striking example – it’s sleek and the pared-back style fits into an industrial or contemporary setting. Instead of a cluster of small ones go big with the iconic Original 1227 collection from Anglepoise. They are available in dove grey, linen white, jet black, alpine white and chrome with different coloured braids to add further interest. Priced at £135 Original 1227 collection, Credit: Anglepoise
