Hotel En Suite Looks to Steal: Minimal Scandi Chic

Take home more than just memories by stealing some style from your favourite hotel bathroom
   EKBB Magazine  |  written on: 28-09-2021 12:40pm

Keep your bathroom décor as understated as possible with a contemporary monochrome theme. Fresh wooden interiors add a tranquil Scandinavian feel, along with sleek shapes and clean lines. Add exposed piping and quirky metallics.

The Hoxton, Herengracht, Amsterdam
The Hoxton’s only hotel on the continent is made up of five canal houses. Featuring 111 rooms in a variety of sizes from ‘shoe box’ to ‘roomy’, local design firm Nicemakers is responsible for the eclectic look, which was inspired by the history of the building – home to the city’s mayor for generations – and the surrounding area. The municipal heritage is given a stylish twist in the bathroom, with creatively positioned metro tiles and snaking copper pipes.

The London Edition, Fitzrovia, London
The London Edition’s minimalist bathrooms are designed by Yabu Pushelberg and I.S.C Design Studio to be light and bright, with extensive use of white throughout; touches of wood and a small vase of fresh violets prevent the scheme from being too harsh. Vast white sinks, a sculptural bath and expansive mirrors all add to the sense of space and serenity.

The Hospital Club, Covent Garden, London
This boutique hotel extension to The Hospital Club opened last year, with design by 3 Interiors and Russell Sage Studio in a contemporary style. Bathrooms are pared-back, monochrome and understated with nickel Lefroy Brooks brassware, so they don’t compete for attention with the eclectically colourful bedrooms. A stay here comes with a turndown cocktail trolley, and art chosen especially by one of the Club’s in-room artists.

Ace Hotel, Shoreditch, London
With Ace Hotel in the heart of Shoreditch, Universal Design Studio set out to create a space that echoes its gritty East London surroundings, and in the process created what is arguably London’s hippest hotel. There’s no fuss and all function in the hotel’s en suite bathrooms, with grids of white and black tiles, clean-lined vanities and simple wooden stools.
